At Pleasant Valley Farms, we believe no farm is truly complete without a vibrant mix of
livestock and pollinators, including chickens, pigeons, and of course bees! These elements
are essential to a thriving agricultural ecosystem. Recognizing the critical challenges
facing honey bee populations, we are committed to supporting pollinator health by
collaborating with the New York Department of Agriculture to expand and refine our apiary.
This apiary serves not only as a hub for sustainable beekeeping but also as an educational
resource for local farmers, students, and visitors, fostering greater awareness and
knowledge about the importance of pollinators in agriculture.
Our chickens, pigeons, and quail play a vital role in our farm’s operations, providing more
than just the freshest eggs and squab. Their manure, rich in nitrogen, is a cornerstone of
our sustainable practices, producing some of the highest-quality organic fertilizer
available. This natural, nutrient-dense manure supports our commitment to eco-friendly
farming by enhancing soil health and reducing reliance on synthetic inputs, contributing to
both the productivity of our crops and the sustainability of our operations. Through these
efforts, we aim to create a model of integrated, regenerative agriculture that benefits our
community and the environment.
