Funding Needs: Beehives ($225/hive), monitoring equipment (est. $300), educational materials ($500).

Goat & Sheep Integration and Shelter Project

Description: Introduce a small herd of goats and sheep to Pleasant Valley Farms to enhance sustainable agriculture through grazing, manure production, and potential dairy or fiber products. Construct a secure enclosure and shelter to ensure their well-being in Zone 6 conditions.

Impact: Goats and sheep will support land management by controlling weeds, provide organic fertilizer, and create new market opportunities for local farmers, while promoting eco-friendly practices.

Funding Needs: Fencing materials ($2,500), shelter construction ($6,500), purchase of goats/sheep ($350/each), and initial feed and veterinary care.

Description: Create demonstration orchards featuring cold-hardy fruit varieties suited for Zone 6, paired with training programs for farmers on eco-friendly cultivation techniques, such as integrated pest management and water-efficient irrigation.

Funding Needs: Land preparation ($9,000/acre), saplings ($500), irrigation systems ($1,000).

Description: Create a food hub to link Zone 6 farmers cultivating innovative and niche crops with northeastern consumers. This hub will feature a visitor center equipped with storage facilities, educational spaces, and an events venue to support outreach campaigns, host fundraising events, and promote the sustainability of locally grown specialty crops.
